Members enjoyed a presentation this month from award winning photographer Roger Hance.
Roger, who is based near Colchester, is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, FRPS. He has been involved with photography for over 30 years. His portfolio includes a huge range of images of people, places, plants and wildlife.
For Waveney Gardeners Club Roger chose as his topic, `Wild Flowers and Orchids’. As you might imagine, his words were illustrated by a beautiful selection of his own photographs.
Roger talked members through images from his trips close to home in Essex and East Anglia as well as further afield, such as those in the Peak District and beyond. He presented images of plants and insects in diverse habitats, including woodland, open countryside, seaside and limestone pavement.
A particular interest, if not passion for Roger, are the many and varied species of orchids found in the UK such as the Man Orchid, Military Orchid and Bee Orchid.
Rogers work can be seen on his website https://rogerhancefrps.com/galleries
As usual, members enjoyed a break for tea and biscuits. The Treasurer reminded everyone of the importance of bringing raffle prizes and participating in the raffle to support payment for the venue. Raffle prizes related to plants, gardening or produce from members gardens are particularly welcome.
The March meeting will be the members spring show. Details of the schedule for the show can be found on the front page of WGC website.
