A cold wet night in November saw only the most hardy members of the club attending the Annual General Meeting and Presentation of Awards.
As per protocol, Club Secretary Jean Davis read the minutes of the previous AGM which were considered and agreed. Club President Bob Coutts spoke on the varied and interesting talks the WGC had had over the past year and thanked Andrew and Gill Bretton for their hard work on the Summer Show.
Club Chairman, John Davis thanked all members of the committee for their work over the year. He confirmed the Summer Show next year will be at Carlton Colville Community Centre. On behalf of Club Treasurer, Kay Bouch, John went on to highlight the accounts which had previously been shared, copies were available in he hall. The accounts were agreed by the committee. It was noted that while the club was ‘finacially comfortable’ this year, costs of speakers, venue hire and refreshments all continued to rise. Kay was thanked for her hard work as Treasurer.
The Committee moved on to the business of electing officers for 2025. The following were proposed and agreed.
John Davis – Chair, Jean Davis – Secretary, Bob Coutts – President, Kay Bouch – Treasurer.
Other committee roles will continue, John Wells – Membership, Marion Goodall – Speakers, Debbie Amor – Website and Club Book, Andrew Bretton – Show Manager.
Cathy Coutts will continue on the committee. Fay Baldry was proposed and seconded and will join the committee in the new year..
Karen Pipe and Geoff Pipe have stepped down from the committee. John Davis, Jean Davis and Kay Bouch have all indicated that they will be stepping down from their roles after the 2025 season.
The meeting ended after a discussion about possible annual trip for next year, to be confirmed. It was followed by the Presentation of awards to those members attending. Remaining awards will be presented in the new year.
