Summer Show 2023

Public Show at Carlton Colville Community Centre

Our biggest event of the year, the 2023 Summer Show weekend was a great success.

During the week before every one of over 400 exhibits in over 120 categories was recorded, with a hand written show card created for each.  On the Friday morning a team of club members descended on Carlton Colville Community Centre.  They brought in tables, set them up, covered them with cloths, arranged them with with markers and placed the show cards, ensuring that exhibitors would know exactly where to put their displays.

Meanwhile the kitchen and refreshments area was organised, with more tables and chairs, the area was prepped ready for refreshments including lots of beautiful homemade cakes for sale.

Some exhibitors began arriving at 5pm to stage their exhibits, great and small.  Others waited until Saturday morning, adding final touches until 10.15 when the hall was cleared and judging began.

The judges took their time, carefully deliberating on 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. The hall looked amazing with displays of vegetables, fruit, flowers, plants, handicrafts, photography and cookery.

With judging complete the show was officially opened at 1.30pm. For the rest of Saturday, and all day Sunday, over 100 visitors came to enjoy the displays, tombola, plant sales, raffle and all important tea and cake!
