Over 40 members and guests attended the April meeting to see the presentation by Richard on ‘Growing Dahlias for Show’.
Richard, a member of the National Dahlia Society, has been growing and showing the colourful blooms for a number of years with some success.
For this presentation he collaborated with another WGC member, Debbie Amor, and together they created a series of videos showing the plants growth, care and journey to reach the show bench during the 2023 season.
Between videos Richard answered questions and added additional advice and commentary. The animated presentation showed just how much time and effort it takes to grow seriously for shows. It also demonstrated just how beautiful and generous well cared dahlias can be when it comes to blooming over a long period of time.
The evening ended with members being reminded that final payment for the Sandringham Show trip in July was due and the usual raffle to support club funds.
